What we did

When it comes to the most important questions in life, a conversation with a mate over a glass of whisky is called for. It was this sense of collective support that Grant’s wanted to channel for their new creative platform ‘How-To Crew’. They turned to VICE to help them bring it to life in a series of films shot around the world.

Turning our backs on tired formats we went in search of some unexpected experts who could help show our VICE hosts a new way of thinking about classic problems that friends turn to each other for. From learning how to switch off from a world record holder in standing still to career advice from a Bulgarian man who sold everything owned to start a buffalo farm, our films took us a journey that spanned three continents.

Shot at the height of lockdown, we managed to deliver eight films, with six different directors all without ever actually being in a room together.
